Hi,

I am considering an upgrade from AutoCAD LT 2011 to the Full version, so that I can benefit from the Parametric Constraints feature. Before I make this financial jump I wanted to check if anyone knows if this can be done using Parametric constraints.

 

I would like to draw a friction stay (hinge) for an opening window such that I can move the linkage components on a drawing and relate the opening angle to the opening dimension.

I have seen a YouTube vid showing how AutoCAD 2011 uses the Parametric constraints to draw a piston and crank that can be moved with the mouse in model space and can also be moved by making changes to the “Parameters Manager”

 

I figured this forum would be a good place to ask the question.

 

To give you a better idea of what a friction stay is, here are a couple of pictures of a typical one.

My personal opinion is that you would be much better off moving to Inventor.
