we are considering getting new software for autodesk mep/revit. We have computers on 32 bit applications. I see that autodesk offers the 32 bit application and reviewing the cost of upgrading to new 64 bit platforms seems steep for this.. is anyone running 32 bit applicaitons and how does it preform.. This will help determine new upgrades.

Have system XP professional, with 2 gig ram, 1terabyte hard drive... but may have to upgrade anyway...

need advise....

If you have to upgrade anyway then make sure it is to a 64-bit system as it would be in your best interest to do so.  Then make sure you install the 64-bit version of the software you are using.  It should go without saying that you'll be using a 64-bit OS.  I would recommend Windows 7 Professional.

Well, if you're upgrading to 64 bit, be sure to increase your RAM. There is no point in going to 64 bit if you only have 2GB RAM.

And as for running 32 bit applications on a 64 bit system, yes you can do it, but they are not supported. So if you encounter any problems, you're on your own.
