Hello, I suppose that you are talking about 3D.
On my 2008 release I can do 3D round springs using the command "HELIX" and then "_SWEEP" but I havn't find the way to generate springs with rectangular profile or screw threads.
I have found on the site the 3D drawing "Wood-scr.dwg" and "skrutka.dwg" that shows 3D screws.
may be you can ( and I too because I'm very interested ) ask how to do this

as philippe JOSEPH suggested, use the helix (specify diameter, height, no of spirals, etc), move your profile (rectangle) to the end/beginning of your spiral, and then use the sweep command.
