i'm getting drawings from autocad 2004 and it doesn't seem like i'm getting all of the dwg. i run 2012. i also run windows seven. does that really make a difference?

Have you checked in the CAD Block section here at the CADforum?
Another option is to visit the CAD Block Exchange Network (cben) and see if anyone has posted individual blocks or a drawing with a library of blocks already inserted.

Running Windows 7 has nothing to do with it.
What is the source of the drawings? Were they made with an AutoDesk vertical product or plain AutoCAD?
We need more details and/or a sample drawing.
