I cannot remember the command for this… when I look at a dash line I would to adjust it so the dashes are not so close together.

Adjust the scale?

Some prints show the lines so close I have a hard time viewing them.

It’s a new computer and I lost my toolbar icon from my old computer where I used to click on it and enter a number like .1 and the lines would change in scale.

When you begin a new drawing , do use a "prototype" drawing including the colors , lines , texts , dimensions , formats etc... OK to your standards instead of openning Autocad and working with it.
If you set "LPTSCALE" to <1> you can use "hidden 2" and "centerlines 2" for tour hidden lines and center lines if you open a port in the paper space.
If you set "LPTSCALE" to <5> you can use "hidden" and "centerlines" for tour hidden lines and center lines if you open a port in the paper space.
If you print directly from the object space , do apply x 50 to "LPTSCALE" if your drawing scale is 1/50.
Ask for more is necessary.

Just so we are all clear about this are you printing from model space or from a paper space layout utilizing viewports?
