conversion of multi-layout file into single-layout

Hi!
If have a problem with following issue:

I have drawing of some layout of office space. On the drawing in model space there is everything, it means:
  • flooring
  • ceiling grid
  • furniture
  • wall location
And I have created  layouts in this one dwg file.
  1. general plan part 1 (scale 1:50)
  2. general plan part 2 (scale 1:50)
  3. flooring
  4. furniture
  5. ceiling grid
I'm using VPfreeze option to show proper layers in each layout. And everything is fine - I like that.

Now I have a problem because I must send my work to the investor. He need to have PDFs and DWGs. With PDFs there is no problem, but I have a problem with spliting my DWG file into 5 parts and I dont really want to split this file, because I will have to copy my drawing 5 times and than delete proper layouts and freeze proper layers in MODEL space.

So is there any way to make it more easier. I mean some sort of automatisation - to press "one button" and autocad will split this one DWG into separate dwg files and freeze/thaw proper layers in model space?

Since he will be getting a PDF file representing each drawing why does he also need five separate drawings?  It is redundant.  As long as he has your master drawing and a viewer such as DWG Trueview he can reproduce the drawing. 

There is no "magic" button that will split the drawing into five separate drawing files in one step.

I suppose you could do a "Saveas" and create five new drawings then go in and delete the unnecessary layouts in each file.  If that is what the investor wants then do it and make sure you charge him for your time.

You're right John, but at the end I must give him full documentation, it means
  • paper drawings
  • pdf files
  • dwg files
Sometimes I just have to prepere such a set of documentatnion esspecially when working on the site - there is usually some kind of system like BOL (build on line) when you just must prepare for every paper drawing also PDFs and DWGs.

Yes, you do but you do not have to give him five separate drawings as that is counterproductive.  You've already created the master drawing with its five layouts.  I don't think he fully understands the beauty of having one drawing with five layouts versus having five separate drawings as might have been done in the PAST.  That was the OLD way of doing it.  AutoCAD has evolved.  It's high time your client come to accept the new reality.

Hello,
 
 If you right click on the paperspace tab you get the option the 'export to model space' which would export the layout to a new DWG. You can do this for each tab, thus creating the 5 drawings you need and it leaves the origional dwg untouched. you may need to scale the new drawings by the paperspace scale factor to get them 1:1
