I finished my solid drawing. I went to Layout1 and did SOLVIEW and brought in the TOP,FRONT,SIDE and then the ISO. As I brought in the views I noticed the viewports didn't look right, only half of the drawings were in the viewports. Usually when something like this happens I go back into Model and back in to Layout1 and the vp's look right.  This time when I tried to go back out and in again I received a fatal error and cad shut down. I open AutoCad again, recovered my drawing and then the same thing happened again. I tried opening another file and the same thing happened again. I sent in Error reports but haven't received and response. The latest product update are current. This morning I opened Acad again and experimented on the drawing that opens up in the begining. I drew a solid, then put it in the layout1 using Solview and the same thing happened again. Its defenitely a software issue I would think. What do you think?   Thank You.    RockyRoad

You might try running the REPAIR option.

If you are having the same problem with each and every drawing, then probably your software is corrupt and you need to reinstall it. But if it only happens with one drawing, then that particular file is corrupt.

I opened autocad pressed f1 and searched for the Repair option. It give instructions for windows xp and windows vista, but nothing for windows7 which is what I have. Do you know where to look for the Repair option for windows7.  Thank You   RockyRoad

What do you think would happen if I tried to open the file on the schools computer?

If you have an option opening it on schools computer, go for it and see how it behaves. If the same thing happens, there is something wrong with the file for sure. And if it works perfect, you need to reinstall your software.

Never uninstall/reinstall software BEFORE trying the REPAIR option.  It will be found in the Add/Remove Software area of Windows.

If you do have to uninstall/reinstall AutoCAD there is a set procedure that AutoDesk recommends you follow to ensure a clean uninstall.  If you don't follow the procedure your reinstall will probably fail to fix the problem.

I agree that you should first try to open the drawing on one of the school's computers.

I went to school, opened up the files and they were file, so I plotted them.  I was very relieved I had alot of hours invested.  I came home and ran Repair and the message said it had repaired it. I tried it again and it hadn't repaired it. So as a last resort I did the Uninstall.  After reinstalling everything seem to be working just fine. I'm very grateful to Mr. Connors and my friend from Pakistan for all their help.
