Hey all,
Thanks in advance for the help.  Looking to get a CAD software for a high school.  WHich one would you choose and which one is the industry standard?  Trying to make an intelligent choice but there is sooo much info.

AutoDesk makes a lot of their software free to students.  This means students could try AutoCAD, one of the AutoCAD vertical products like AutoCAD Architecture, Inventor or even 3ds Max.  Check it out.

An industry standard for what?

AutoDesk has more "seats" of AutoCAD installed than just about any other CAD software producer. 

What kinds of drawings would the students be working on?  Maybe they need something specialized like Inventor or AutoCAD MEP.

Howdy Buzz,
 
I would reckon that you go with AutoDesk and choose Revit from their selection. 
 
Over here, most High Schools use Revit & its one of the Industries leading CAD software....

Buzz did not indicate what "discipline" was being taught at his high school so recommending REVIT at the exclusion of any other piece of software would be premature.  Maybe the school puts the emphasis on machine drawings, thus Inventor might be a better choice or they stress mechanical in which case AutoCAD MEP might be more suitable.
