What are your system specs?

How much physical RAM is installed?

What is the capacity of your hard drive?

How much free space is left on your hard drive?

When was the last time you cleaned up your hard drive of extraneous files  and defragmented it?

What OS are you running?

What version of AutoCAD are you running?

My guess is that you have a minimum amount of physical RAM (maybe 2GB?) and that your virtual memory settings are such that Windows is having trouble paging out data to the swap file.  Like I said, it is just a guess.  Won't know for sure until you answer all the questions.

I guess it wasn't as much of a problem as you made it out to be.  All fixed?

I would double the RAM for starters...or more if you do large dwgs or 3D in ACAD.

Also, I would make sure your Virtual memory is set to a static amount...about 2X you physical memory.

Then I would check availble hardrive space and cleanup .bak ACAD files and defrag harddrive with "My Defrag" and defrag Registry with "WinUtilities RegistryDefrag"

Unless your OS version is 64-bit you will not be able to double the amount of physical RAM.  You could max out at 4GB running the 32-bit version but you would have to edit your boot.ini file to run the /3GB switch (doucmented by both Microsoft and AutoCAD).

Virtual memory should be 2.5 to 3X the amount of physical RAM installed.

Both the Min and max values of your virtual memory setting need to be set at the same value.

Run the Windows Cleanup utility and also delete all AutoCAD BAK, ERR, and orphan DWL files.  Then do a defrag.

Please verify if your OS and software are 32-bit, 64-bit or a combination (ex. OS=64-bit; AutoCAD is 32-bit).  Thanks.
