Hi There,

Can anyone help me?!! I am only new to AutoCAD and have not dealt much with 3D, but, I am in need of advice on how to render or hatch a wall drawn on the Z axis. I have a house plan originally drawin on top view as just 2D now having drawn the walls on the side view I need to color them? Any tips or help would be appreciated.

Regards

Are your walls done in 2D or 3D?

When you say you want to "color" them do you mean you want to apply a texture, a hatch pattern or a material?

Renders work best if materials are applied.  Materials work best if assigned to a layer rather than individual objects.

Hi,

The walls were drawn as a 2D floor plan the extruded into a 3D solid. I have got them to a stage where by they are the color of the layer, but am unsure of how to apply a rendered type texture. Not sure if this is the best way to draw a 3D wall??!

At this point you either apply a material to the object itself or assign it to the layer (ex. - layer: walls) that it is on.

Once materials have been applied, lighting has been established, then you can render the drawing or a portion of it.
