Subject: Re sizing PLC Modules

Hi,
I have inserted various PLC modules in Autocad electrical and would like to resize them as i am running out of space. I realize that in order to do this have have to change the rung distances which i know how to do for the drawing or the project but i don't know how to change when i have already inserted the module. I can insert a complete module at the correct size but that would mean starting again.

Thank
Adrian

Are you attempting to change both the rung spacing AND the size of a PLC module in an existing drawing?

You are aware that there is the ability to insert a PLC using full units and a second option that allows you to insert a PLC parametrically. Each I/O point is a block inserted on a rung of an existing ladder.  This command adjusts the spacing between I/O points to meet the rung spacing.

Look on the Schematics tab > Insert Components panel.  They are labeled as such:

Insert PLC (Parametric)

Insert PLC (Full Units)

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply, i am aware of the two different types of PLC inserts and that when using the PLC Parametric it allows you to choose the rung distance between each I/O. But i am trying to change this distance on an existing PLC module because ( for example) i have used a 32 Dig in module and each rung is 10 and this was ok until i reached Input 25 which uses the symbol (Limit switch NC Cam driven) and this symbol is a lot higher in the vertical plane so therefore i would like to increase the distance between rungs so i can keep all the schematic symbols aligned. The only way i can think off is to use the block editor to move the I/O points but would have thought there would be a way to adjust the rung spacing on an existing module.

 Hope this all makes sence.

But if you do that then every instance of that block in your drawing would be changed as well.  Is that OK with you?

I don't see an alternative other than delete the module and re insert with new settings. I am surprised that there is not a function where you can change the rung settings and then select wich modules you want to update with the new settings.

You might try posting your question at the AutoCAD Electrical group on the AutoDesk website.
