I installed 2011 yesterday, and now all the colors we use for piping and steel seem very faded. All the primary colors like yellow, red, green, etc... are fine, but everything else looks really washed out on my screen. Any suggestions?

after a little research, it appears to be that the xref's are what looks faded. Is there a xref transparency setting or something that would show them the same brightness as the rest model?

Two or three different solutions discussed here.

You'll find an XRef fading slider also on the ribbon Insert>Reference pull-down.

Are those objects on an XREF layer?

What works for one doesn't always work for the other.  That's why I said (jackyyy) that the link I supplied contained more than one possible solution. Did you read it?

I loved the one guy in that post (the one who references all the previous "knuckleheads") who hasn't discovered himself yet that changing the value of XDWGFADECTL also changes the value in Options>Display>Fade control... and the XREF Fader slider on the Insert>Reference pull down.  Clap
