Is there a way to insert auto text to AutoCAD? For example, I use a block to form the outline and drawing detail part of the drawing in model space. This includes the drawn date, which was April 2002 when it was made many moons ago. Is it possible to have this upate to the current month, with it selecting the month at the time of insertion and then not changing? Failing that can it reference a cell in a spreadsheet??

Cheers

You can use a macro to insert a formatted contents of the CDATE variable (current date/time).

You can reference an Excell cell in TABLE link (current AutoCAD versions) or with Excellink (also in older versions).

Use the MTEXT.  there is a button for inserting a field in the text box.  Scroll through and fine the Savedate option.  The save date will update each time you save the file.
