Hello all, new user to AutoCad. seem to be having problems adding dimensions to anything - dimension markers appear but no text, anything i change seems to make no difference. May just be that i don't know enough, but can't seem to work it out! Any help would be appreciated. Brad

I can think of any number of possible problems, but we can cut straight to the chase if you create a simple DWG file with the problem and upload it. Maybe your text height is so small and the object you are dimensioning so large that the text, although there, is just not readable. Have you had any AutoCAD training? That was the first thing that came to mind here too... that and probably using the "Standard" dimstyle. But rather than guess it would be nice to see an example and use it as a 'teaching moment'.

Yes need a bit of teaching - only been using cad for 5 days. But i have finaly worked it out - looking in the wrong spot. It was the text height as you guessed.

Hang in there. Read everything you can absorb here and elsewhere and start building a set of browser bookmarks for AutoCAD blogs and user forums. Aside from this one you should also join and monitor:

There are numerous static and video tutorials around so start by searching for them and going through them. I'd also recommend buying a good after-market AutoCAD book by Omura, Finkelstein or Grabowski.

Dude! Nobody cares. I visited CaddChat and there it was in black and white a pricing schedule for getting help with AutoCAD problems. What did you do, remove it? Words your site uses to describe itself: "...instant, cheap and efficient..." Maybe it is the word CHEAP that I keep getting stuck on. I'm harsh because too many people promise the moon only to deliver a big, black gaping hole. It is especially important if one is going to charge for a service no matter what the price. What can we expect for our money? Once again the word "instant" gives me concern for pause. One cannot even get an "instant" answer in a free forum at times just because of time differences or a low level of activity over a weekend or holiday.
