Created a border of our company layout and have tried to place in paper space. When placing into paper space nothing shows up but square. Do I have to save this as a template file, place it in the template folder then try to insert into paper space?? have already saved it in dwt format and inserted into template file for transfer into paper space, but when placed nothing shows up thanks.. ------------- andsly |

Why would you create a template then try to insert it in another template? When you OPEN a new drawing select your template; don't use the default template. It's not clear how you did things, but here's how most of us accomplish this:
1. In Model space, create a title block border to paper scale (22"x34", ANSI A, or whatever size paper you'll be plotting to) that includes all of your borders, and company information, etc. Be sure to put the origin of this at 0,0 and allow for paper margins.
2. Include all attributes you might want for repeatable information, such as dates, Drawn by, Checked by, etc. Include any fields as well.
3. Make this entire assembly a block.
4. Now (!) go into the Layout space and Insert this block at 0,0. Set up all the plot configurations you might use for it.
5. Save this file as a Drawing Template (DWT).
From there as John notes, when you start a new drawing use this as your starting template file.
Remember also that this is MUCH more than just a title block template. If (and you should!) you include standard layers in the file, Text, Dimension, Multileader, and Table styles in your setup, and other settings, they will also come along for the ride everytime you start a file with this DWT.
It's not important that you get it all right or everything included the first time. But you should revisit it and update it frequently as you first start using it when you find things that are missing or need correction. It's a process that will take a bit of time... but save you much more in the long run and lead to consistency in your work.

  Thank you very much for this How-To. I have been looking for this info for yrs and nobody has ever put it clearer.I hadn't had to do a Title block this way since college (14yrs ago) and I wanted to start using the company title block in this format but was unable to find any do directions on how to do it. I've tried this option several times and still it doesn't show up on plot configuration. Even made sure I wasn't in defpoint mode and still doesn't show up.. I followed directions exactly and still doesn't work... ------------- andsly |

It "... doesn't show up...", or you just can't see it? There's a big difference.
In Layout/paper space do a Zoom Extents and see what happens. Then a Ctrl-A to select everything. Do you find any grips? If not, then you haven't really inserted anything in paper space after all.
Beyond this you will need to be a little more descriptive about what you've done and what has happened. Right now we're still guessing because it's not clear where you are in the process.

When I insert into paper space and configure plotter, preview shows nothing> I've made sure everything is layered properly and not on defpoints. The drawing shows as being there, but plot preview and plotting shows nothing....

Maybe whatever you inserted is so far off the mark that when you go to print it would obviously not show up. Is there a titleblock and border in paper space already? inserting corner at 0,0 and it shows up on paper space. When I go to print nothing shows up....

Where are you actually located in the U.S.? What is the best time to meet you on this forum? I'm located in Connecticut. My schedule varies but I usually check this site in the early morning.
