Hello, are you talking about 3D objects ?
When I do 3D objects, I keep the different stages of design and copy them at ( for example ) 10 meters so that I can re-use the initial volumes if there is a modification or an error etc...
It's possible to "store" 3D objects in the paper space so that you can use your files as XREF, files as blocs etc...
Please tell us more...

yes ..talking about 3d objects...i have to take solprof of that object so i cant make block for all objects..even X-ref i cant make for all small objects...without keeping the copy of object i made that object into union now....so how i can edit tha union ....i have to make small changes in union object so i not want to go from start..for this is any alternative

I'm using the FLATSHOT command directly from the object space ( with a good UCS setting ) + QSELECT + OVERKILL, it's almost like SOLPROF.
For the 3D objects that you have to modify, there are 3D modify commands just under UNION, SUBTRACT that should release your pain.....

Without seeing an image I can only guess but it sounds like you either need to use the SLICE command or next time set DELOBJ to "0" so as to retain the underlying geometry used to create your object(s) in the first place.

John, If it's for me,I use the SLICE ( and SECTION ) command, but I guess that the problem of Reckson is more complicated than a "simple" SUBTRACT command, or I'm wrong ( or I know not enough ).

yep, John is right!

The only way to keep original solids is doing it by stages, by keeping previous ones

Now create sufrace or few surfaces (cage) use UNION command, make sure you cage is closed, no gaps between surfaces

Then use SLICE command to get what you want

There shoud be other way of getting back to previous stages when you have solid history option ON, but I have not gone so far into it.

Main solid history is always off as its use to much memory….

I am affraid, but once you have used UNION command you not able to edit solid objects. You need to start using SLICE command! If you want to be a 3d designer this is very important. If you want, you can send me the file so I can slice this object for you. Should take few seconds.

Can't recommend strongly enough that if you don't want your email address found and spammed by every web crawling bot on the planet, modify anything you put in a forum like this into the following format:

Email; myname at domain.ext

It's probably safe to assume that most everyone will be able to figure out that "at" = @

... just sayin'. Embarrassed
Dave.

Leave your email address just the way it is.  I have a mailbox full of spam I'm sending off to you today.  Thanks for taking care of my problem of what to do with spam I don't want.  Solution: send it to dabrovsky!
