I want to change the value of the dimension text without chaging the element attached to it.

For e.g if a wall is 20' drawn. But while dimensioning I would like to write 22' without actually drawing 22' or say I would like to use the dimension to mark an element and write 'width' ( not as a prefix or suffix)

Can anybody solve this.

Thank u

Revit wont let you do this with a dimension. What you see is what you get.
Draw detail lines and use text  if you want to cheat! I do not recommend this the model won't be true. you may regret it later.

You can override dimension texts in Revit 2009 - see:

Dear Vladimir,

Thanks for the reply. I guess I need to upgrade to the new Revit 2009 for this.

Thanks again for letting me know.
