I am getting setup to start a large multi story project for all the shop drawings

for the ornamental works for stainless steel, glass, aluminum, etc.

Clients want/needs a BOM for each & every piece in the scope of works +

requested a Bill of Materials.

Scope of Works = Lobby Elevators, Stair Railing, Entrance & Exit Gates, etc.

Any advice on starting up, the AutoCad commands, etc. for actioning a

Bill of Materials for the AutoCad Drawings?

Hello, if it's got to be automatic I know that AutoCAD Mechanical has a command : AMPARTLIST.

Other things i don't know.

You are using AutoCAD 2010, you can find in your "C" disk the user guide in PDF form acad_acr.pdf ( C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ACADM 2008\Setup\Docs ).

In AutoCAD you can also use the commande : TABLE.

Any other way, I'm also interrested.

Hi LGeneBartlet,

you can use attributes in drawing blocks created for each product in scope of work. there is plenty of public domain code snippets for bom creation that simply tally the attributes in each drawing desired.

How can we attach an image to a block as an attribute, which could be extracted to an excel file as a cell content (not as a file name)

DataExtraction.. works great I use it to generate Material Quantities.
