Last night facilities reconfigured my office:

Years ago the company supplied each employee with a http://www.fitbit.com/" target="_self - FitBit pedometer. I have used mine every day ever since. This device showed me that although the goal is 10,000 steps per day, I rarely get that many. Last year I actually canceled my NFL Red Zone football package when I moved only 900 steps in an entire Sunday.
To get the ball rolling, I underwent an ergonomic evaluation of my existing sit-down configuration.

I also got a note from primary care physician indicating that a non-sedentary work environment would be beneficial for my long-term health, and facilities granted my request.

I am now a stand-up kind of guy. They also serve who only stand and type.
Standing is alive in the lab.
