hiya, I just saw your post about dwg revs. I have recently moved to a company and bn here about 6 months. The way we do things here is better than my last company in some respects. We have individual folders for each project and within these folders we have the following individual folders;
Current
Superceded
Architects
Xrefs
When we receive a drawing from the architect it gets saved into the architects folder and the file dated on the day it was electronically received.
We the save this drawing as our own into the Xref folder where we 'clean' it up and get rid of any unneccesaries.
After this we obviously create a dwg and import the xref and it will remain in our current folder until we get a new xref from the architect with new changes on. Obviously when a new layout come in we save the original drawing as a later revision and the first dwg will go into the superceded folder (don't forget to bind xrefs otherwise things can get confusing on a big job.)
We have issues for tender, tender clarifications and construction. The way I am used to now is
Job no/Discipline (elec or mech etc), cad dwg no (01,02) and then the rev in the title block.
Sorry so long winded! wonder if it may help at all? I'm on a quiet period at work and thought to register on here to learn from people but also share my knowledge where I can
:)
