in the 2002 version of autocad LT there was a command called 'flatland' this was created by using a macro. this command was extremly helpful when recieving drawings based on a 3d survey. i have not been able to find this command in any version of autocad LT to date or any way of creating this command.
 
could anybody help?

Hello, if I understand your needs, you want to flatten all the objects of a 3D file so that you can use them in a 2D file.
It's possible if you do the following sequence :
Move the objects, choose "all", from point : 0,0 to 0,0,1E99.
Then :
Move the objects, choose "all" , from point : 0,0,1E99 to 0,0,0.
beware of doing it with a general UCS.
Take a 3D point of view other than the standard plan view ( left for example ) to check if all is OK.
This won't flatten the objects in a bloc or in an Xref.
It's also possible to move objects to Z:0 in the properties pannel  (Ctrl+1 ) but only by families of object ( not OK with lines and arcs ).
