I'm new here and to Autocad 3d solids and have what I think will be a very simple problem to solve, but, can't figure it out myself.

To keep it simple, think of a solid model of a 2x4 board (length inconsequential). What is needed is the 2x4 to be "ripped" down along its length by 0.25" to a nominal 3.75". That's it!

I've tried all the "stretch" and "extrude" iterations I can figure out and nothing accomplishes this simple task. Seems that changing the dimensions of a solid object should be rather straightforward. Maybe that's my problem---it's just too simple. Or, I'm too simple Cry

Thanks for helping a newbie.

Try the "Move Faces" command or "grip edit" the solid.

The normal Stretch command will not work on a 3D solid.

Or recreate the 2x4 using the actual dimensions of 1.5x3.5.

Thanx, John. I took the easy way and used your suggestion to simply remake the part using the "box" command.

However, I will pursue your other two suggestions and learn more about moving faces and using grips. I have, already used your grips tip and saw the potential for "in place" editing of parts with it (as opposed to reconstructing the part entirely).

Many thanks for your help, John.

extrude face, (not extrude), then select directly on the face, then type in -.25(negative distance).
A postive number adds that amount, negative subtracts.
make sure when you select the surface that it says 1 surface selected, if it says 2, then hit R (remove) select surface you don't want to modify and continue with positive or negative distance.
Hint:  You can also pull it to another point, object, etc, by using your osnaps.
