I'm interested in using AutoCAD to design intravascular stents but, because height must be held constant in 3D mode, am having some difficulty. Does anyone have a basic .dwg file depicting a stent?

What do you mean "because height must be held constant in 3D mode"?
What exactly is the problem?
You can buy a 3D model of a coronary stent and balloon catheter at the 3DScience.com website for $120 U.S.

Yes, I have several nice drawings of intravascular stents but I'm trying to design a novel one. I can easily create a 2D stent pattern within AutoCAD. But then, how do I "wrap" the pattern into a tube thus creating a stent?

You would be better off using Inventor or maybe even Inventor Fusion. AutoCAD is too primitive a program for what you want to do.
