viewport issues

Having problem with veiwport scale. I create a viewport set the scale then create another viewport go to it and the previous viewport automatically scales all. This repeats with the creation of each new viewport. Any one know what is going on?

When you create your first viewport and locate your objects within it the way you want and set the scale, lock the viewport.  This is very important for a lot of reasons, but it may help here.  To lock the viewport simply select the edge and click the little yellow padlock on the status bar.  It'll turn to blue.

Then create a new viewport.  It's not advisable to create the new one within the existing one... but put it somewhere else.  It will (again) automatically zoom extents your full model.  Again, go into it (activate it by double clicking inside) and zoom to the area you want to see, adjust the scale, and again exit.  Then lock this viewport too.

Let us know if this is what you've been doing and/or if it helps with your problem.

No offense Dave but that CAD101 not helping. I do not want to have to lock my viewport and have never had this problem before. I was hoping that someone might recognize this issue and tell me what setting or interger could be affecting the viewports. Should add am working in 2013 light version.

I'm not sure if this would solve something, but
COMMAND: UCSFOLLOW
The variable should be on 0 (zero).
Else, you already have an answer from Dave.

Unfortunately tried that one after initial research and it did not work. But thank you. I really hate it when I can not figure out the answer.

If you can reproduce this issue in a simple example drawing try and upload it here so a few of us can look at it.  I think we might all be missing something.
 
The version (2013) or installation (LT or full) shouldn't have any bearing here.

I would have to upload the actual file because it is only happening in one file. To be honest it is actually someone else in the office who is having the problem but seemed easier to claim it as mine. We work with a lot of out side files but this individual swears that they followed the procedures we have set up to prevent problems. I still feel that somehow this file has a wrong setting I can not find or am overlooking.

Maybe you can help with this issue. We copy and paste from one file to another a lot and for some reason blocks keep exploding when we do. Any suggestion on this issue.

The UCSFOLLOW setting *should* have solved it.  Note that it needs to be set for each viewport, while the viewport is active.

Try this as a test:

Put your source drawing in one window and a new drawing in another.  Select a block in the source, then instead of copy/paste simply click, drag, and drop the block into the target drawing. 
 
Does it still explode in the target?
