To preface, I am inexperienced with both, and before I spend a few hours going down one path or the other, I wanted to get some input.

Our company outsources a small hydraulic brake cylinder, and recently we moved suppliers for a number of reasons, and the cylinders do not quite match as far as replacement parts. I was wondering the best way to keep track of both assemblies in one file with the following differences in the two parts.

Different seals/gaskets.
New housing machined differently.
New cylinder has a bronze bushing in the bore.

The idea would be to be able to keep track of both under the same part number and the same file. Ideally I would think that either Design Views or Level of Detail would give me the ability to do this rather easily.

Thanks
