Hello everyone! I'm a student, so I downloaded the student AutoCAD version from the Autodesk website. It was working fine, but now it is crashing immediately when I start the program. What shall I do? I need to fix this problem...I have projects to submitCry I'm pretty sure my computer has enough graphics card and RAM.

I tried pressing "esc" repeatedly. It worked for a few seconds and then crashed.

Are you starting it from the Start menu or Autocad icon, versus clicking on a file icon?
You could try reinstalling it.

I'd try the REPAIR option first.  It can be found in your Windows Control Panel under Add/Remove Programs as an option for uninstalling/reinstalling.

Post the specs for your computer too.

I tried repairing and reinstalling it, but that didn't work. I've reset the settings to default and it fortunately started working. I appreciate your reply, thank you!

I usually click on the desktop icon to start the program, but what's the difference between those three options?

If you are using windows 8 as operating system, the autodesk application might crash repeatedly. Still the autodesk versions are not ready for windows 8. Try some service packs. Probably shifting to windows 7 is best option for now.

Windows 8 wasn't even mentioned.

Service packs are usually cumulative so for AutoCAD 2013 only S.P. 2 would be required.

AutoCAD 2013 is certified to run under three versions of Windows 8.  If you check the AutoDesk support webpage where the service packs are available you will see this mentioned.

Sometimes a simple Repair or even an uninstall and re-installation isn't enough to solve a serious AutoCAD problem.  Neither of those procedures is enough to get rid of everything that might be causing a problem.

So if you've tried all that you may need to http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=2887771&linkID=9240617" rel="nofollow - Remove all AutoCAD products from a Windows system .  Follow the procedures at this link in order and to the letter.  You should be working again in no time.

You can try one thing. You can install Autocad in another hard drive partition than the OS.See what happens. If it does not work better try Windows 7 or Xp.
Thanks

I second the advice as given by heinsite.  There is really no good reason to install to a different partition as AutoCAD still has to write to the Windows Registry which is on your root drive.

AutoCAD crashing only happened because of Installation problem. student AutoCAD version not installed properly. So uninstall student AutoCAD version once more, then go to C:\Drive> Check after uninstall any student auto cad file exist or not, if any file is there try to delete that all files, after that delete your all temp files and delete browser history, cache also. Once more download student AutoCAD version and install properly.

I had similiar problem because of my display card isn't fully supporting AutoDesk.

1. do in single monitor

2. AutoDesk takes a lot of CUP

3. Change your desktop theme to Window Classic and no desktop picture.

Hope these will help if not, maybe change your display card or reinstall
