Are these objects blocks by any chance?

Sorry but I'd have to have a copy of both drawings to troubleshoot the problem. I'm stumped at the moment. A cup of coffee might help.
By any chance is the color of the layer you are inserting the objects on white?
Any chance the layer's color has been set by Plot Style?

I'd say he is inserting objects that are on the same layer in both drawings but in each drawing is set to different color. That happens many times.
