With the freeware utility PerpFrom (PF) for AutoCAD you can conveniently draw perpendicular lines from their foot on any line or curve in your drawing.
Download the PerpFrom add-on from Download and load it into your AutoCAD with APPLOAD. You can then use this function in two modes - either as an interactive command PERPFROM (resp. PF) which dynamically previews the perpendicular direction (any you can just confirm it anytime), or as a transparent command 'PF, which can be invoked inside any other drawing command in AutoCAD, on the prompt "Specify next point:".
In the interactive PF command mode, the direction of the perpendiculars is previewed both "above" and "below" the curve, on which you hover your cursor. You can confirm the creation of the perpendicular line by clicking. Just confirm the direction or enter the line length.
In the transparent mode, the previously specified point must lay on a curve, at the foot of the perpendicular to be drawn:
Command: _LINE
Specify first point:
Specify next point or [Undo]: 'PF
"<103.36644358"
Angle Override: 103
Specify next point or [Undo]:
