Q - question

How to convert truecolor color hue to the nearest AutoCAD ACI color?

A - answer If you are looking for the closest AutoCAD Color Index (ACI) hue to a given RGB color, you can use AutoCAD directly. When you set a specific RGB hue, it adds the closest ACI color to the entity properties. You can then find this ACI color in the DXF property 62 - see the LISP command:

(cdr(assoc 62(entget(car(entsel)))))

You can also find the closest ACI color without AutoCAD, using the online Color converter in the Converters section. When you pick or type in an RGB or CMYK hue, it will not only find the closest Pantone colors, but the closest color from AutoCAD's ACI palette will be selected in the ACAD select-box and its "color distance" - the difference between the original RGB color and the palette color - will be displayed in its tooltip.
