The number of points contained in a points cloud depends on the scanning sampling. The max number of points displayed in in a drawing is controlled by the system variable POINTCLOUDPOINTMAX.

The default value is 1500000 points (1.5 million). The maximum number of points that can be displayed for all point clouds attached in the current AutoCAD session is 10 million for 64-bit systems and 5 millions for 32-bit systems (x86).
