The exhibit hall is always a fun and fascinating part of the Autodesk University Experience. As an exhibitor, I was in there before it opened.

Here are just a few of the things I saw in the early morning:

  • Brittany Presten and Arthur Harsuvanakit's Project Dreamcatcher chair in metal and wood

    2016-11-14 14.16.34

    2016-11-15 07.45.43

  • The Hackrod chassis generated by Project Dreamcatcher

    2016-11-13 19.09.33

    2016-11-14 14.33.00

  • A robotically welded lamp (then plcced in a lounge setting)

    2016-11-14 14.27.54

    2016-11-15 07.57.47

  • A race car

    2016-11-14 14.53.57

  • Robotically welded 3D objects

    2016-11-15 07.45.19

  • A human-designed automotive part (weight = 5.1 pounds)

    2016-11-15 07.46.54

A topologically-optimized version of the same part (weight = 3.8 pounds)

    2016-11-15 07.47.16

A generatively-designed version of the part (weight = 3.2 pounds)

    2016-11-15 07.47.27
The fill pattern is not uniform inside the part. Much the same way bones grow, more material is deposited in places where the part endures more stress.

  • Live robotic welding

    2016-11-15 07.48.43

  • More robotic fabrication

    2016-11-15 07.45.19

  • A food truck

    2016-11-15 07.51.54

  • The Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) space

    2016-11-15 07.52.25

  • A lightweight pavillion

    2016-11-15 07.52.58

  • A 3D printer and its cartridges

    2016-11-15 07.54.26

  • An electric motorcycle designed with Fusion 360 by Orange County Choppers

    2016-11-15 07.55.15

    2016-11-15 07.55.20

    2016-11-15 07.55.33

Exhibitionism is alive in the lab.
