when I try to open a file in auto cad, the open file window doesn't come up, it just tells me to type in the file in the command prompt. Anyway to fix this?!?

filedia did the trick!!!! Thanks, I dont know how I changed that, but it is back working now!

Maybe you used a poorly written custom lisp routine that reset some system variables and forgot to return them to their original settings prior to exiting.
