Dear all,

I'm on a chopper project for my job and I need a ec120 cad model to work on.
I found it on this forum (many thanks) but it's in a DWG format and cannot be imported on catia v5 Cry

Is someone could transform it for me ?
in step or iges ?
just need the external skin or the entire model

many thanks in advance
jeremie

Hello, is the "ec120" that your are talking about the helicopter_ec120_eurocopter.dwg drawn by Vladimir MICHL ?

If yes, then you will have to communicate with him because it's drawn with AutoCAD 2013 and I have only AutoCAD 2008.
On AutoCAD : Fichier, Exporter, Exporter des donnĂŠes --> ACIS (*.sat) or
Fichier, Exporter, IGES --> IGES Files (*.igs , *.iges).

You can contact me as the webmaster - see the footer.

The IGES export has been too slow, but I have resaved the model (not drawn by me) to the DWG2000 file format. The The DWG2000-version of the this model is on: http://www.cadforum.cz/forum_en/uploads/Helicopter_EC120_Eurocopter0.zip

Many thanks !!!

but I can't open it with catia V5 .... at work I haven't this license, only basics ones

I tried to open it with another program like google sketch up, it's ok, but IGES plugins cannot export surfaces .... strange for an iges plugin

Very hard this history ....

Any chance to try again to export an IGES from autocad with external surfaces only ?

It's already very nice that you wasted time for me .... if you can't no problem, I understand

thanks
jeremie

Hello zoildust and Vladimir, I have done an export to XXX.igs file but it's giving a 71 Mb file ( it didn't take too much time to do ).
How can I communicate it ?
When I did the export there was 8 panels of options to set and I choose to do it with the setings unchanged.
On the original DWG file I did scalelistdelall and the file was lowered by 1 Mb.
Here we have AutoCAD 2008, Solidworks 2008 and ProEngineer and I can confirm that the different exports can work or not and even can't be possible sometimes if the files are too big.
I am personally working on AutoCAD 2D and 3D and I'm using Solidworks basically as an interface between the 3 softwares.
To be continued...

Hello again, i have opened the file with AutoCAD and it looks like the model is based on surfaces and not volumes ( correct me if I'm wrong ).
May be that's why I only get a 2D sketch when I try to open it with Solidworks.
May be a big specialist could give us more informations or tips...
