Hello GoplerGop, I'm afraid this is not too much complicated to achive.
It's basic geometry.
Tell us more about you, is this only an AutCAD problem for you ?

Hi Joseph, thx for helping me out. great explanation and walkthrough. I was international student in San Francisco State Univeristy, majored in sociology.Later on i came back to Tawian and start taking intro autodesk and wanting to be a designer. Well it's really amazing to see someone draw a wonderful mechanics or clothing or great simple gadget that serve great purpose and reason price for consumers.
I like green stuff in earth friendly products, i thought well why i start in auto desk. here i am. Thx again. |

That was a nice solution, Philippe! It was completely graphical. No math at all.

Yes Dave but, had it to be mathematical, I'm afraid I would not be still able to calculate it when it's been more than 20 years now that I don't use my hand calculator ( just AutoCAD ).

That's funny, because my first solution *was* mathematical! It was only a little simple algebra actually. All you need to do is extend the two angled lines to a point and then drop a vertical to the base. Then measure (or dimension) the split on the base. We know the top horizontal is to be 35 so it's easy to do an expression to solve for what one of the sides would be on the 35 length.
It still only took a couple minutes. But your method was still easier. No calculator necessary! :) Dave. |
