Display full version of the post: Flatten 2d polylines?

I have searched high and low.  I cannot find an app or tool that takes a polyline that resembles a triangle or a broken rectangle and while keeping the joined endpoints in tact, aligns them to the x or y axis.  In other words, I am drawing an end view or profile of a sheet metal piece and flattening it.  Any ideas on where I could find this?  It seems like a REALLY simple tool.

Then I have no clue what you are talking about.  Even your thread title does not make sense when compared to your question.  Post a drawing so we can see what you are trying to do.

I apologize.  Here is a link to a pdf illustrating the concept: http://electricmetalfab.com/upload/straighten%20polyline.pdf  I was unable to upload the dxf.  Hopefully this helps.  I really appreciate the help guys.

I do not see anywhere to upload a file.  I could only find the "insert image" button.  I know it's hard to read but it wouldn't let me insert anything larger than three digits.  Let me know where the upload button is and I'd be happy to upload a dwg.  Thanks.

Sorry.  I don't know of a command that will do that.

go to front view on view command then move other lines to perpendicular so that all othem lies on the same plane or axis. then go to top view to join all poly lines to convert to planesurf.
