I have a drawing that I want to print in 3d perspective view, but I need the text to show up in 2d. I want to do all of this in model space. Can someone perhaps advise how I should go about changing the text to a 2D (plan) view on my 3d perspective (in model space)? Thanks

Switch to a top view and place your 2D text.  Just make sure it has an elevation of zero.

Click on ‘Draw’, in drop down menu select ‘Text’ option (last
option of the drop down menu). Now you can select ‘Multiline Text’ as well as Single
Line Text. You can easily create 2D annotations.

He asked how to get the text in a top down view in a 3D drawing not how to actually use TEXT or MTEXT.

John and RIPTIPE6, I think RIPTIDE wanted a 3D viewpoint with 2D viewpoint texts; then I think he could set an UCS View and launch a text to be seen in "2D".
RIPTIDE OK ?

Yes, your UCS should be in the correct orientation to avoid unintended results.  It stands to reason anyone creating a 3D drawing would/should know this.

Hi John, as per my understanding RIPTIDE6 in his query mentioned 3D perspective view which is not necessarily top down view.

And your instructions were for creating 2D annotation....period.  You did not mention anything about 3D or UCS or perspective so I don't see what the connection was.

Seem to be having technical difficulties today with my previous post with the image of the buildings and text.Anyway, the text in the drawing was inserted while I was still in a 3D perspective view although the text is 2D.  I just made sure my UCS was oriented correctly so the text would not go in vertically.Could I have entered the text while in a top (plan) view?  Yes.  All it would require is a reference entity, like a line, with an elevation of 0.00 to ensure I wasn't entering text some feet or meters off the ground as a result of having picked some wrong geometry on a 3D object.Use the method that suits you best.
