Q - question

Green corners around drawing views in Inventor.

A - answer Green corner symbols (rectangular frames) around the views on an Inventor drawing sheet indicate the "High Speed Drawing Views" functionality (new in Inventor 2012).

High speed drawing view

These raster previews of complex views allow to start drawing annotations (dimensions, balloons, tables, parts lists) before the precise view is fully calculated (either as a primary calculation or as a model update). The not-fully-calculated views are also indicated by the "recycling" icons in the browser tree (with a calculation progress tooltip).

You can disable and enable this function on the Drawing tab in the Options dialog - the checkbox "Enable Background Updates". The performance of this function is higher on multi-processor (resp. multi-core) workstations (>=4 cores) with a plenty of RAM. Each view is calculated in a separate process. The green frame disappears after the view is fully calculated.

For printing and exporting of drawings, wait for the completed views (Inventor displays a warning).
