In AutoCAD, you can enter angles in many different formats and also enter coordinates using polar values employing different angle formats.

  • Decimal degrees: the simplest format, e.g.. 15.95
  • Grads: using the suffix "g", e.g. 101.5g
  • Radians: using the suffix "r", e.g. 3.15g
  • Degrees/minutes/seconds: where "d" is for degrees, ' (apostrophe) for minutes and " (quotes) for seconds, e.g. 123d45'56.7"
  • Surveyor units: where "N" (localized in non-EN versions) and "S" denote north and south directions (azimute, bearing) and the angle (dms) is measured in the north, south, east, or west directions - and "E" plus "W" denote east and west bearings - e.g. N45d0'0"E. The angle is always less than 90 degrees.

Examples of relative polar coordinates entered in surveyor's units (no space after "<"):

@100< N48d21'6"E

or in imperial units:

@72'8"< N48d21'6"E
