You can use the rVPscale utility (reactor) to link a viewport (mview) entity to a text entity (template). It will automatically display the current viewport scale on any viewport change.

Load the rVPscale.VLX file in AutoCAD (e.g. by dragging), start the rVPscale command and pick the watched viewport and a predrawn text entity.

For download on www.cadstudio.cz/developuk.

In AutoCAD 2005 you can also use the text FIELD with viewport scale.
