A
Two-color raster images (with foreground and background color only) and transparent GIF or PNG images can be made transparent in AutoCAD.

Start the Transparency command, select your image and enter Yes (in LT, this command is available only after issuing the IMAGE command).

You can also use transparency in rendering - if the output file format for rendering is set to one of the 32-bit formats with alpha channel (TIFF-32, TGA-32).
