Files with the .max extension.

I have several files with the .max extension but they do not seem to be scenes from 3ds max (it doesn't load them).

The MAX extension is used not only for the 3D Studio Max scenes but also e.g. for scanned files (raster images) from the PaperPort and OmniPage applications (by ScanSoft).
