Some users report problems entering special characters using the Alt+nnn keyboard shortcuts in AutoCAD (e.g. Alt+064 for "@").

Why only some? It depends on the typing speed of the particular user. When you press Alt and immediately start typing the numeric code on the numpad, the character is typed in properly. But when you press Alt, wait half second, and then type the number code, AutoCAD gets chance to react on the Alt key and display the ribbon tooltips instead of entering the special code.
