Suddenly you are not able to edit drawing geometry by doubleclick (displays only grips), nor edit text (it is only highlighted)- but the DBLCLKEDIT variable is set properly to 1 (On).

The double-click functionality depends also on one more variable - PICKFIRST. Make sure it is set to 1. In older versions of AutoCAD (older Express Tools) also check the other (now obsolete) double-click handler - the function DCPROPS.
