Q - question

Integration of foreign CAD data into Autodesk Navisworks.

A - answer The project coordination application Autodesk Navisworks offers not only direct support for Autodesk products but also support of project data from other CAD applications and file formats.

The format NWC (NavisWorks Cache) is used for export of 3D geometry and the associated attribute metadata from non-Autodesk applications. Export of NWC files from other different types of applications is provided by a separate module "NWC Exporter" (see www.cadstudio.cz/download), which contains native plug-in modules for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Autodesk software, for ArchiCAD (9-13), 3ds Max (8-2012), 3ds Max Design (2010-2012), VIZ (2007-2008), Microstation (8, 8i, 9, J).

So it is possible in Navisworks 2012 to combine, analyze and present project data from these applications along with CAD and BIM models AutoCAD, Revit, 3D Plant, Civil 3D, with 3D point clouds and other documents.
