Q - question

Mental Ray and Arnold is missing from my 3ds Max 2018.

A - answer Autodesk 3ds Max does not contain the nVidia Mental Ray and iRay renderers anymore, they can be installed later as commercial licenses from nVidia.

Nevertheless, a standard part of the Max installation is the license of the modern, awarded renderer "Arnold for 3ds Max" (MAXtoA). This module has a form of a plugin maxtoa.mll (not included in the Design Suites installation media). Additional installations of the Arnold module - e.g. for later installations into 3ds Max licenses in Design Suites, for future updates of this plugin, or for network rendering licenses - can be obtained on the Solid Angle web site.

In 3ds Max 2018, you can also use other included renderers like Scanline, Quicksilver and Autodesk Raytracer (ART), or install additional third-party renderers like V-Ray, Corona or OctaneRender.
