After selecting a pipe in a model no grips are displayed, or the grips are displayed only in the "Wireframe" display mode.

This may be caused by the setting of the system variable CULLINGOBJ - it should be set to "0".

Please also check, whether grips are enabled in AutoCAD options – Options > Selection tab > check the option "Show Grips".
