Q - question

How to export linetypes from an AutoCAD DWG drawing? LinOut

A - answer With the free utility by CAD Studio - LinOut - you can automatically generate (extract) a linetype definition file (.LIN) back from your DWG drawing (incl. the shape+text information from complex linetypes).

Load the VLX utility in your AutoCAD session (with the main DWG drawing) with APPLOAD and start (type in) the LinOut command. It creates a .LIN file in the same folder (and same name) as your DWG drawing.

LinOut is available for download on Download (see also SW Development).

Version 1.3 fixes handling of multi-text lines.

The older LINOUT1 command supports just plain linetypes (not the complex ones).

For hatch patterns use the PatOut utility
