DWG formats supported in the individual versions of 3ds Max.

A - answer The animation/rendering application Autodesk 3ds Max supports the AutoCAD drawing format - DWG.

The individual versions of 3ds Max support the following versions of the DWG file format (DWG files saved in the following AutoCAD versions):

3ds Max 2011DWG 2010/2011 and older
3ds Max 2010DWG 2010/2011 and older
3ds Max 2009DWG 2009/2008/2007 and older
3ds Max 2008DWG 2009/2008/2007 and older
3ds Max 9DWG 2009/2008/2007 and older
3ds Max 8DWG 2006/2005/2004 and older (Max 8 sp3 with "RealDWG 2007 update" then also DWG 2009/2008/2007 - see www.cadstudio.cz/download
3ds Max 7DWG 2006/2005/2004 and older
3ds Max 6DWG 2006/2005/2004 and older
3ds Max 5DWG 2002/2000i/2000 and older

If needed, you can use the application Autodesk DWG TrueView to convert DWG files to an older format.
