How to calculate the fluid volume in a watertight model, e.g. in the well-known 3D model of the "Utah teapot" - the function "Fluid Volume" in the CAD/CAM application Autodesk Fusion 360.
In the example of volume calculation, we will use the original model of the Teapot, which is available for download in the .OBJ format directly from the tea-set on utah.edu - newell_teaset.zip. Import the teapot OBJ file into Fusion 360, delete the lid and convert it to a solid BRep model. The nozzle is not connected with the teapot in the model, so first it is necessary to "break a hole" by splitting the solid.
Then we will create an auxiliary plane of the "water level" (it can be not only a plane but any surface) and then we select all boundary elements in the function "Fluid volume". Fusion will create a new solid component, where it is already easy to find its volume and other information. (The used source OBJ model is not scaled properly so the resulting volume data is nonsense in this case.)

You can use the same method to find e.g. air or oil volume inside designed machines.
