Q - question

Batch unification of page setups in DWG files.

A - answer Struggling with disorder in page setups in your DWG files? If you want to unify your standard AutoCAD page setups and keep only those configurations you really use (e.g. for a printer, plotter, PDF, DWF), you can use the following "batch" methods:
  1. purge the page settings on each DWG open and load (import) predefined setups from a company drawing template -- for this method you need to define a macro for the drawing startup (or for a menu button):

    DelPageSetup "*" _-PSETUPIN MyTemplate.dwt "*"

which uses an older utility DelPageSetup (see

  2. export settings from the current DWG drawing to all DWG files in the specified folder -- for this method you can use the LISP utility CopyPageSetups (see - it copies the page setups from the current drawing to all drawings in a folder you specify and deletes any original pages setups in these drawings(!)

Both CADstudio tools are available for free (load them e.g. with APPLOAD). Another option is to use the command DWGCONVERT - see the Tip 8499.
